Rolex now crowned as the official broadcast sponsor of Oscars 2017

The 89th Academy Awards® broadcast will take place live on Sunday, 26 February 2017 on the ABC Television Network and premium watchmaker ROLEX has been crowned for a second time in a row as the official broadcast sponsor of the Oscars 2017 Greenroom.

Rolex’s association with the filmmaking industry is not new to the world as the premium watch collections from Rolex have been sported by many of superstars in the industry. Not only this, the watchmaker is famous for extending its support to many young film-makers through its Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.

Rolex Director of Communication and Image, Arnaud Boetsch says “Rolex supports inspiring individuals and organisations who achieve great heights in both the sporting world and the arts, and the Academy exemplifies this pursuit of defying the odds to reach unimaginable goals. The Academy Awards and Rolex recognise and uphold excellence.”

Rolex has also received praises from prominent director James Cameron who loves to pay keen attention to details and for the very same has been a Rolex testimony for years. While putting up his views, he says “Great movies are made in details, and not just a few details – every detail. Every character, every prop, and every sequence. A Rolex is not only a beautiful watch and a masterpiece of engineering, it’s very tough. It’s a watch that you can take into any environment and which can stand up to the pressure. So, what you’re saying subliminally to the audience is: that character can take the pressure, too; he or she has what it takes.”

The Greenroom is the place where stars relax for quite some time before going on to the stage for the award ceremony. Last year it was Rolex’s first chance as the sponsor of Oscars Greenroom and the Rolex Interior Design team from Geneva designed the room in a classic style with superior ambience and decor. This time, Rolex too gets another chance for the Oscars 2017 to come with a completely new concept and design style.

We congratulate the watchmaker for landing with this opportunity again and would love to see its work ahead on the last Sunday of this month.
